We still don't know a lot about Marvel's Eternals but the more we hear about it, the more interested we get. The movie is looking to mix up the Neil Gaiman-penned mini-series, which is the smart thing to do since that's the graphic novel Marvel has been pumping out to get fans ready for this movie. Kumail Nanjiani will be making his MCU debut here and he revealed some interesting details about his character.
Appearing in Deadline's New Hollywood Podcast, Nanjiani revealed that the Eternals are trying to law low on the present day, which ironically leads to his character becoming the biggest Bollywood star in the world. Nanjiani also says he had to take a lot of Bollywood dancing classes to legitimize the role, which we can appreciate.
It looks like we can expect a big Bollywood musical number from this movie, or, at the least, a music video that will tie-in to the film.
"We were sent to Earth thousands of years ago to protect Earth from these monsters, the Deviants. A lot of it takes place in the present day. By this point, we've been on Earth for along time. and my character, for instance, is like 'OK we're supposed to keep a low profile, no one should know.' So I become a Bollywood movie star, that's my secret identity. We're supposed to keep quiet and I've become the biggest Bollywood movie star."
That's a fun contrast, being a big celebrity who has to hide the fact that he's secretly a god-like being and should make for some fun drama down the line. We're still waiting for a trailer or two so that we can gauge our expectations for this movie more but this sure sounds ambitious.
Eternals will be coming to theaters on November 6.
