Elizabeth Olsen leaving a lasting impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe isn't so much of an overstatement and nearly three years after the Scarlet Witch's last appearance in the franchise, fans are still clamoring for the actress to make her return and haven't stopped banging Marvel Studios' door.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness may have "killed" Wanda Maximoff, but it still left infinite possibilities for her potential return considering how open-ended the Harbinger of Chaos' departure was.
Now, Olsen is speaking up about her future in the billion-dollar franchise and it appears that she's pretty happy with her career choices.
Elizabeth Olsen on Her Biggest Career Takeaway Post-Marvel
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter to promote her latest film The Assessment, the MCU vet explained the significance of her recent career decisions. She said: "I didn’t realize this until about six years ago, but because Marvel and its influence takes up so much physical time and space in the world, it’s really important for me to make choices outside of Marvel that reflect my own taste."
Olsen added: "Your taste does create the artist that you are, and that wasn’t something I was thinking about when I first started working. So the opportunity to return to films like [The Assessment] is a reflection of the people I want to work with and my own personal taste."
Since her last MCU appearance in 2022, Olsen has been doing the best work of her career in projects like the acclaimed Love & Death for Max, Netflix's His Three Daughters, and Fleur Fortune's The Assessment where she stars alongside Alicia Vikander and Himesh Patel.
Elizabeth also has other projects lined up, including her first romcom Eternity and Panic Carefully opposite Julia Roberts.
Elizabeth Olsen Confirms She Won't be in the Next Two Avengers Films
In the same interview, the WandaVision star said she won't be appearing in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars and will instead be focused on a new series for FX. "I’m moving on to filming a pilot for FX [called Seven Sisters]."
Of course, this isn't Elizabeth's first rodeo when it comes to keeping MCU secrets so the chances of her just trying to keep things airtight to keep everyone surprised aren't completely out the window.
Although to be fair, Olsen dedicated much of her career to Marvel and it's high time she got to do the projects she wasn't allowed to take part in because of her commitment to the MCU.
Elizabeth Olsen's latest film The Assessment is screening in select theaters in the US.
