Of all the Stranger Things characters returning on Netflix, fans will be missing one crucial lead from season 4, and that is Joseph Quinn's Eddie Munson.
Unfortunately, despite the popular demand for Eddie even after his death, the Stranger Things creators had good reason not to bring him back.

The eccentric Eddie Munson, who was portrayed by Joe Quinn in season 4, won't be returning with the main cast for the final season. He died protecting his friends with his attempt to distract Vecna's demobats in the final episodes, but fans had hoped he would be spared from his tragic fate.
Stranger Things co-creator Matt Duffer of the Duffer Brothers officially declared Joe Quinn won't be joining them in their last days.
"I love that Joe Quinn is toying with people!" Matt said in response to their previous open-ended answers to his potential return, "But no, he's dead."
Another reason why Quinn's return didn't happen was due to scheduling conflicts: "Joe is so busy anyway, that everyone should know he's not coming back. He's shot like five movies since! When the hell has he got time to come and shoot Stranger Things? No, sadly, RIP. He's fully under that ground."
Stranger Things Creators Pretty Much Trumped Over Fans' D&D Theories

Considering the magical elements that Dungeons & Dragons presented to Will, Mike, Dustin, and Lucas, many Stranger Things fans truly believed that bringing back Eddie would have been possible.
Most of the theories revolved around the fact that Eddie was nibbled on by demobats, and such creatures they usually face from Vecna's creation, almost always have their own alternative figures in the game. For demobats, there was a theory that had the most potential, where Eddie would be resurrected into a vampire of some kind to help Dustin and the others.
However, in Matt's words, they simply couldn't find the time to get Eddie back into the story. It would be difficult to imagine how Dustin had moved on from witnessing his friend's demise, but his memory of him would surely live on.
Meanwhile, Joseph Quinn has been quite busy after starring in the MCU's Fantastic Four: First Steps, Gladiator II, and A Quiet Place: Day One, to mention a few.
