Mia Goth, who played Lady Elizabeth Harlander and Baroness Claire Frankenstein, confirmed in a recent interview that Guillermo del Toro won't be making a Frankenstein 2.
Here's how Goth explained the impossible rumored sequel and what the director had to say about it.
Guillermo del Toro's Rumored Frankenstein 2 is Not True

Considering that del Toro's version showed two sides of the story, Viktor's and the creature's versions, fans believed that expanding his iteration to Bride of Frankenstein could potentially happen in the future. Mia Goth begged to differ, despite being on board with the idea.
"I did bring that up to [Guillermo del Toro], and he said, 'But Victor Frankenstein is dead.'" Mia Goth said in a recent interview with Collider, "That is an issue. That is definitely an issue overall."
Frankenstein ended with Victor (Oscar Isaac) dying from his injuries after reconciling with the Creature (Jacob Elordi). While the Creature lived, The Bride of Frankenstein seemed too far-fetched to adapt without Victor being able to create his bride.
It wouldn't be strange for del Toro not to create a sequel to his creation. If anything, that marks his consistency in his filmmaking history. Even if it is possible for the director to change his ways someday, Frankenstein ended the way it should have for a standalone original.
Why Frankenstein Should End the Way It Ended on Netflix

A continuation of Frankenstein with his own bride would reverse the impactful ending that the original portrayed. The Netflix-released film, after all, highlighted the father-son dynamic between the Creator and his Creature. The Bride of Frankenstein would likely undermine any potential development the Creature would gain from his freedom.
Elordi won a Critics' Choice Award for his performance and is expected to receive an Oscar nomination as well. Even if this might pave the way for a Bride of Frankenstein sequel, they would have to take extra miles to find loopholes and somehow bring a bride into the picture.
Nevertheless, Frankenstein is one of Jacob Elordi's best performances to date, so it's only natural for fans to gravitate toward wanting to see more of him playing as the Creature, a role he could proudly claim as his own original take on the iconic Mary Shelley work.
For now, fans can stream Frankenstein on Netflix.
