Pop culture fans might feel a little bit disappointed now that Star Wars: The Mandalorian has completed its first season on the Mickey Mouse House's streaming site, Disney+, but it looks like Disney jas foma;;u decided to announce a brand new slate of original projects.
According to a report by ComicBook.com, Disney attended a panel at the Realscreen Summit in New Orleans, and during the meeting the Mickey Mouse House revealed the very first details about its upcoming original programs.
All of these programs focus on unscripted ideas, and the first one seems to be a reboot of the fantasy reality competition series, The Quest. Instead of featuring young children as its participants, the reboot of The Quest features teenagers as its respondents. The series is described as an "innovative reality competition," taking place in the fictional world of Everealm.
The Mickey Mouse House is also producing a brainteaser competition program called The Maze which pits teams of five against one another as they solve riddles and figure out clues that help take them through different European cities. It's also producing National Geographic's new program, Meet the Chimps, a show which features the ins and outs of Chimp Heaven, one of the biggest wildlife sanctuaries in the entire world. There's also an untitled series following Pixar's SparkShorts.
"These projects take people on epic adventures, immerse them in fantastical worlds and shine a light on extraordinary people and creatures, which are all important benchmarks of our Disney+ nonfiction content philosophy," Agnes Chu, senior vice president, Content, Disney+ said, "We are thrilled that we get to bring the groundbreaking The Quest back to life, and can't wait for people to discover The Maze, our special subjects in Meet the Chimps and the innovation and wonder of making Pixar's Sparkshorts."
While these programs might not involve any of Marvel or Star Wars highly anticipated series like Falcon and the Winter Soldier or Obi-Wan Kenobi, we're glad to see Disney trying its best to provide original content to fans.
Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow debuts on May 1, 2020.
