Scarlett Witch may be more of a supporting character in the Avengers films, but she's going to be in the spotlight with Disney+'s miniseries WandaVision. All we know so far is that the series will be focused on the romance between Wanda Maximoff and the Vision, but Elizabeth Olsen confirms that the story will be based on the comics.
She confirms this with Variety at the red carpet during the Avengers: Endgame premiere. When asked about the show, Olsen said, "It comes from-there's quite a few other comic books that we're pulling from, and it's gonna be Wanda and the Vision."
There's also a mention of the series having a scene set like a 1950s sitcom, and while some think that means there's going to be a time travel element to the show, I think this is more of a hint at Wanda's reality altering powers.
Though Scarlet Witch has mostly just been lifting things with her mind in the films, let's not forget she also has the ability to mess with people's heads; and in the comics, she can mess with reality. What are the odds that this show will have her using her powers so she could come up with a happy life with the vision?
This goes back to Olsen's comic comments, and I'm thinking the show will draw from the infamous House of M storyline. In the comic, Wanda manages to put everyone in a reality where all the main characters get what they want; mutants have become the superior race, Spider-Man is married to Gwen Stacy, Captain America never hot frozen in ice, etc. While I personally would have wanted to wait for the mutants to come to the MCU first, I think there are already a lot of characters play with when it comes to this alternate reality.
Then again, nothing has been confirmed, and I'm just making a wild guess here.
With the show said to be starting production later this year, we could see the release of WandaVision sometime in 2020 or 2021.
