Did Captain Glenn fire Chef Cloyce from Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 episode 4? After that big birthday fiasco in the previous episode, did Chef Cloyce manage to stay on the boat's crew? Here's what the Captain had to say.
What Happened to Chef Cloyce in Below Deck Sailing Yacht S5E4?
Chef Cloyce got on the wrong side of Captain Glenn in Below Deck's recent episode.
Instead of being on the boat an hour or two before their guests climbed back on board on Parsifal III, the chef was seen swimming around and enjoying himself, which the Captain and Chief Stew Daisy did not appreciate.
"He's gotta understand he's here for a purpose," Glenn stated in the episode, "He's not a guest."
The Captain had to have Cloyce fetched to do his job, which the chef only got to on his feet when he was only left with 15 minutes before 4 o'clock, the supposed time for the guests' lunch and dinner.
Not to mention, they were celebrating the guest's 60th birthday, making the occasion all the more special and critical to be on time for.
Captain Glenn kept expressing his distaste for Chef Cloyce's unprofessionalism for the main course and most importantly, the "horrific" turnout of the cake he microwaved for the big day.
Given how dissatisfied the customers were, it seemingly implies that Chef Cloyce could have been sacked. But here's what Captain Glenn said.
Did Captain Glenn Fire Chef Cloyce From Parsifal III?
"I like the departments to work things out between themselves if they can," Glenn said in a recent interview with Bravo, noting that his style of management means keeping him inside the loop without having to be involved.
"They both want to impress the guests but they're coming at from different angles," Glenn said, pertaining to Daisy being 'all about presentation' while the other is about 'food' when, in his opinion, it should be 'the whole package.'
With Glenn's experience witnessing Chef Cloyce nearly lose their guests in the fourth episode, did he end up firing him?
The short answer appears to be no. Instead, he watched Below Deck Sailing Yacht season 5 so far and gained a new perspective on him.
"Watching it back, I'm quite impressed by Cloyce," Glenn said, "I think he's a real character."
"You could chalk it up to maybe a lack of experience. Not experience in cooking, but maybe on superyachts where things can go wrong like that," Glenn added, "But overall, I've been pretty impressed by Cloyce. I think he carries himself well."
