X-Men: Dark Phoenix has finally premiered, and now that the X-Men franchise has come to a disappointing end, it looks like we finally have the details surrounding Fox's scrapped X-Men vs Fantastic Four movie.
The idea behind this X-Men vs Fantastic Four project came long before Disney acquired the rights to 21st Century Fox, and though there's a possibility that the film could still happen, we're certain that Marvel might make a few tweaks to the project.
The Hollywood Reporter has the updated details regarding the scrapped film, and according to the entertainment news outlet "Fox considered building toward a crossover movie that would have pitted against the Fantastic Four."
According to the publication, X-Men vs. Fantastic Four would have been "Civil War for the Fox/Marvel characters." In the film, fans would have gotten to see Johnny Storm going nova while trying to arrest the Molecule Man. Johnny would blow a hole in Manhattan, sparking the Superhero Registration Act.
Pretty similar to Captain America: Civil War, don't you think? But that's not the only similarity there. The film would have also featured a matchup between Mr. Fantastic and Wolverine, one that would end with "Reed Richard pinning Wolverine down, extending is hands until they're on molecule wide, and using them as scissors to cut the mutant's arms off." Talk about an intense fight scene.
The film's script would have been penned by Ashley Edward Millar and Stentz, the screenwriters behind X-Men: First Class. Hopefully we'll get to see the movie someday, though Marvel has declared that it's in no rush to reboot the X-Men franchise.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix is currently screening in cinemas.
