Deadpool and Wolverine was filled to the brim with all kinds of cameos but not every major Marvel player was expected to make an appearance.
There had been no news of Spider-Man appearing in the movie, but one scene does hint at the ending of Spider-Man: No Way Home, and Peter Parker’s status when it comes to the Avengers/Stark Industries.

Spider-Man Easter Egg in Deadpool and Wolverine
In one of the earlier scenes in the movie, Wade Wilson is having a meeting with Happy Hogan about joining the Avengers, and Happy’s office is filled with all kinds of Easter Eggs—especially those pertaining to the first two Iron Man movies that Jon Favreau directed. You can see Captain America’s unfinished shield, Iron Man’s suitcase that transforms into the Mark V armor, and the arc reactor that was ‘Proof that Tony Stark has a Heart’.
What’s interesting is that there’s also a closeup of the photo that Tony Stark has with Peter Parker in Avengers: Endgame, and though Tony is clearly in the picture, the image of Peter is blocked by a toy Iron Man helmet.
Peter Parker’s ‘Cameo’ in Iron Man 2
Though the movie does make it ambiguous as to how the world is dealing with a forgotten Peter Parker, the choice to block his image with the toy helmet is a very deep-cut reference.
Though Peter Parker doesn’t make his MCU debut till Captain America: Civil War, it was during the promotion of Spider-Man: Homecoming that Tom Holland announced that Peter actually appears much earlier in the MCU.
It was retconned that the child that Tony Stark saves in Iron Man 2 from the drones was actually a young Peter Parker visiting the Stark Expo. Here’s the scene:
In the clip, the child is wearing the very same helmet that appears in Happy’s office in Deadpool and Wolverine—further cementing the idea that it really was Peter Parker that we see in the Iron Man sequel.
When’s Peter Parker Coming Back?
For now, it looks like Sony is still cooking up their next series of films featuring Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. With the Home trilogy having finished, the character of Peter Parker has kind of been brought back to his roots, removing his connection to Iron Man and depriving him of his family—making Peter one poor genius who is trying to make ends meet while juggling the responsibilities of Spider-Man.
It’s unclear what kind of arc Spider-Man has to go through now, but fans are expecting a new take on the symbiote/Venom arc, as well as the introduction to never-before-adapted characters like Black Cat or Scorpion. If anything, fans are definitely sure that Peter will appear in the next two Avengers movies, and maybe Secret Wars will be the one that gives him the black suit—just like in the comics.
No release date has been announced for the next Spider-Man movie starring Tom Holland, but Deadpool and Wolverine is set to release in theatres on July 26.
