Emma Corrin Says They 'Felt Terrible' Killing Off Johnny Storm
In a recent interview, Corrin revealed that they "felt terrible" killing off Chris Evans' Johnny Storm after seeing fans' reactions during a screening.
"Absoooolutely mad. I felt so bad when we were in the screening the other day. Because we watched it after the New York premiere with all these Lincoln Center full of fans, and everyone was so excited when they see him appear on screen, and then after three minutes, I've killed him," the actor said.
"I felt terrible. I was hiding in my seat. Yeah, it was weird. Not something I thought I'd be doing if you'd asked me a few years ago."
Despite that, Corrin acknowledged the scene was a great way of making the most of every cameo, while building a strong arc for characters like Cassandra Nova.
"That's something [Marvel] do so well, the cameos. You know, they give the people what they want. They give them cameos. But they also don't use them gratuitously. They're all there for a reason. And I think you really sense that. Or, I hope people sense that, because I think they're used really cleverly," they added.
While seeing Johnny Storm get killed off so quickly was a huge shock for the audiences, it showed just how powerful Cassandra is as the main villain and significantly upped the stakes for the heroes.
In the end, most fans would agree that Corrin gave an effective performance as Cassandra Nova regardless of whether they killed off a fan-favorite or not – and they were easily one of the film's highlights.
Deadpool & Wolverine is showing in theaters everywhere.
