DC Universe Will Add 'The New Batman Adventures' and 'The Batman'

Fans of the Dark Knight just found another reason to subscribe to the DC Universe streaming service. Viewers are currently enjoying a clean, HD version of Batman: The Animated Series, and it looks like they are getting more animated Bat-goodness. If this report from IGN comes true, then we will be getting two more animated series' starring Batman.

Well, one new animated series and a continuation of BTAS.

According to the new report, we will soon be getting The New Batman Adventures and The Batman. The latter is not Matt Reeves' upcoming 2021 film but a more anime-like take on Batman and his villains. This resulted in a Joker with dreadlocks and a more Eddie Gordo-like fighting style, among other changes. It's not the best Batman series ever but it lasted for five seasons and was pretty entertaining.

The New Batman Adventures is actually a continuation of Batman: The Animated Series but with a more simplified art style to Superman: The Animated Series. This season of the show garnered a mixed reception since it had a mixture of light and dark episodes that often clashed with each other. Sure, it had a number of childish episodes but the season also gave us the animated version of Mad Love and gave us Over the Edge, the darkest episode this series ever had.

No official release date has been given, though it wouldn't be too surprising to see it get released in DC Universe sometime this year.
