The Real Reason Behind Netflix’s Marvel Cancellations Points To Disney And Money

There might have been a whole lot of shock and disappointment after Marvel fans learned that Netflix had chosen to ax popular Marvel shows like Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and more recently, the critically-acclaimed Daredevil, but many clung to the hopes that the shows would find their way to the Disney_ streaming site. However, it seems like it might actually take a few more years for that to come true.

Variety has been keeping tabs on Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Daredevil, and it looks like there's a clause in the deal between Marvel TV and Netflix that keeps characters from their shows from appearing in any other non-Netflix series or movie for two years after their cancellation.

This means that if ever Daredevil were to transfer to Disney+ or to Hulu, then it would take two years for that to happen, finding a new home only by the end of 2020. There might be hope for Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Daredevil, but it sure is going to take a whole lot of waiting until we see them again on the small screen.

Of course, this news will come as a disappointment to many.

Daredevil had been a favorite among Marvel fans, and before its cancellation, many had been hoping that Netflix would renew the series for a fourth season the streaming site. The show's third batch of episodes had been a hit, not only among fans but among critics as well.

Unfortunately, it turns out the show wasn't immune to cancellations. What a shame.
