Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is getting a season 2. The new season will be a 10-episode story that will presumably be a standalone adventure independent from CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 and season 1 of Edgerunners.
The announcement was shortly followed by a small teaser trailer that quite notably spoils one of the big events of season 1. If you haven't seen it and are planning to, scroll past the following social media post:
Towards the final seconds, we can see a brand-new character that I can only assume will play an important role in the next season, if not the outright protagonist.
Calling Cyberpunk 2077 a comeback story would be an understatement. When the game was originally released in 2020, it was critically panned for its abysmal performance. Sony eventually removed it from the PlayStation Store and began issuing refunds.
Among the things that helped revitalize the franchise was Cyberpunk: Edgerunners, a completely separate story set in the world envisioned by CDPR and Mike Pondsmith.
Starring the charming David Martinez, Edgerunners was a heartbreaking tale of down-on-their-luck street-smart characters trying to make the most out of the cards life dealt them.
When Does Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 Come Out?
Sadly, we don't have a release date set in stone for Edgerunners season 2.The announcement teaser simply stated that it'll come out when "it's ready," heavily implying the creators behind the project will not rush things to meet a specific deadline.

What we do know is that Studio Trigger will return to create this second season. Edgerunners is a visually stunning anime, lauded for beautifully depicting the grittiness of the Cyberpunk universe with flair.
