Cyberpunk 2077 is set to come out next month (finally), and CD Projekt Red has been trying their best to hype up the release of one of the most anticipated games of the year. Just in, we have a new trailer delving into the styles of 2077— Kitsch (style over substance), Entropism (necessity over style), Neomilitarism (substance over style), and Neokitsch (style and substance).
Besides looking amazing, each style actually helps tell more about the story of the world. Not to get too political, but each fashion sense kind of reflects the social standing of each class. It would make sense that the poor would have to choose between style and necessity, and the more powerful/wealthy types would be more into ‘substance'. With the nature of celebrities and public figures, it would also make sense that they would be the class to prioritize Neokitsch, as they both have the wealth and an image to maintain.
With The Witcher being praised for its world-building, a lot of people are excited to see what kind of world Cyberpunk 2077 has to offer. While we've had futuristic IP like Altered Carbon and Ghost in the Shell, we haven't been able to delve into this genre with something as immersive as a AAA game.
Cyberpunk 2077 is an open-world, action-adventure story set in Night City, a megalopolis obsessed with power, glamour and body modification. You play as V, a mercenary outlaw going after a one-of-a-kind implant that is the key to immortality. You can customize your character's cyberware, skillset and playstyle, and explore a vast city where the choices you make shape the story and the world around you.
Cyberpunk 2077 comes to PS4, Xbox One, and PC on Nov. 19.
