Could Natalie Portman’s Surprise Avengers: Endgame Premiere Attendance Mean A Female Thor?

Natalie Portman attended Avengers: Endgame's Hollywood premiere yesterday, and it looks like the Thor actress' appearance has sparked a few questions regarding her future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Marvel Entertainment live-streamed Endgame's global premiere last night, and there Portman was spotted among the cast and crew of the film as well as with actor's linked to the MCU. Could this mean the return of Jane Foster?

Playing the role of Jane Foster, Thor's (Chris Hemsworth) love interest, Portman first made her debut in the MCU in Kenneth Branagh's Thor back in 2011. She returned to play the character in Thor: The Dark World back in 2013, however, she has yet to return to the franchise. Sure, Avengers: Age of Ultron might have casually mentioned Foster's name when Thor said that he and his partner were still going strong, however, Thor: Ragnarok soon revealed that the couple had long since broken up.

Seeing Portman appear in Endgame's Hollywood premiere has fans wondering what the actress' attendance might really mean. Last week, Thor: Ragnarok star Tessa Thompson revealed that there were talks of another Thor movie with director Taika Waititi set to helm the project. Could Portman be part of that?

There have also been rumors of Marvel wanting to replace Captain America, Iron Man, and Thor with their female counterparts. In the comics, Thor's passes on the mantle to Jane Foster. Could Portman be returning as the new Asgardian God of Thunder?

Of course, we might just be over thinking. Portman could have been invited to Endgame for no other reason than the fact that she had been part of the MCU before. Her appearance at the Hollywood premiere of the film might not really mean anything.

Avengers: Endgame officially releases on April 26, 2019.
