Before we delve into the chapters and storyline, let’s have a look at the stunning cover art of Choujin X Volume 4 featuring Noh Mask, the primary villain of the manga.

The watercolor-like strokes by Ishida look spectacular as we get to see the menacing side profile of this ruthless villain.

I am a huge fan of Ishida’s art style, especially his vibrant use of watercolor for the cover art.

Choujin X Volume 4 follows suit in the visual department, with the striking image of Noh Mask's profile against a lively green backdrop.

Tokio vs. Azuma: Best Friends Collide

The early chapters of Choujin X Volume 4 showcase a brutal battle between Tokio and Azuma.

Tokio recognizes that the serum must have had the same effect on Azuma as it did on him, yet he remains puzzled about why Azuma would attack him.

As Azuma continues to attack, Tokio remembers an incident of arm wrestling from school.

He recalls how other kids pressured him to challenge Azuma after nobody was able to beat the latter.

Finally, Tokio decides to enter the fight and challenge Azuma. This fight between Tokio and Azuma is a massive turning point in the story for several reasons.

Azuma, who is a new choujin, finally learns about his powers. As he becomes a choujin, there is a sudden surge of negative emotions toward Tokio that could derail their relationship.

I admire how Tokio can remain mindful of the fact that Azuma is still his friend. But during the battle, Azuma finally realizes that he is not Tokio’s hero anymore.

This volume also shows Azuma joining Tokio and Ely Otta’s organization, Yamato Mori.

Volume 4 also spends a significant time training Tokio, Azuma, Ely, Maiko Momoma, and Simon Kagomura.

Chapters 26.1 and 26.2 offer a bit of a breather for the characters as they are taken to a remote island named Ojima for a week of training.

Ichiiro Sato informs Maiko and Simon that they will be undergoing training with Tokio and the rest of the characters.

Ichiiro ensures that all the trainee choujin get a clear understanding of what they lack in terms of skills.

He then goes on to introduce Roja Hachimaki (Bramble choujin) and Shadowl Shant (Darkness choujin), who will train Tokio and his friends.

Amid this training backdrop that has its share of fun and frolic, villains are lurking and already planning their next move against Yamato Mori’s choujin.

Toward the end of Choujin X Chapter 26.2, a mysterious woman has seized command of a ship, eliminating its entire crew.

The choujin named Yubiko, alongside Chandra, stands poised to execute their next strategic step.

During this volume, we also learn about the Beast of Foresight. Volume 4 of the manga doesn’t reveal the true identity of this beast.

However, Yubiko did ask Azuma if he was the Beast of Foresight.

Can the Beast of Foresight be Tokio, Ely, or Azuma? We don’t know yet, but Volume 4 has introduced this new angle to the already twisted storyline, and we are mighty pleased.
