Warner Brothers' DC Extended Universe is certainly trying to shift away from its darkly lit beginnings. The various trailers and other promotional material for James Wan's Aquaman has been nothing but colorful and dramatic.
Now, it looks like recently released promo art for Jason Momoa's upcoming standalone movie stays true to this new change of direction, featuring Arthur Curry and Mera (Amber Heard) in a splash of colors. In the officially licensed promo art, we get to see Aquaman in his iconic comic book costume and Mera in her regal outfit for the upcoming film.

Aside from the new promo art, fans are also treated to two new behind-the-scenes photos from Aquaman. The images which seem to be scanned from some sort of spread for a magazine show Momoa and Heard sitting together on a cave set together with Wan, probably discussing the details of a scene. The second photo shows the actors working on a street for a scene we've previously seen in trailers for the movie.
The only DC film set for release this year, Aquaman has been building up a lot of hype among fans, many of whom are more than excited to see all the underwater battles in Arthur Curry's first standalone movie. While Momoa's DC character has already been introduced inJustice League, the Aquaman standalone will give us more depth and insight into the character and his origin. We definitely can't wait to see what Wan has done in Aquaman.
Aquaman is slated for release December 21, 2018.
