Wizards of the Coast
When MagicFest New Jersey 2019 happened last weekend, many Magic: The Gathering fans were disappointed by the Grand Prix event's lack of text and video coverage as well as the missing trophy for the champion Max Williams.
Now, Channelfireball has announced that it will be providing text coverage for all Magic Grand Prix starting with MagicFest Toronto next weekend. Coverage will be available at Channelfireball.com and it will include player profiles, decklists, and feature articles.
Note that they haven't announced anything about video coverage yet, just text coverage so we still don't know if Grand Prix Toronto 2019 will get video coverage this weekend. It's good to know that Channelfireball is taking over coverage following MagicFest New Jersey's disaster. People playing in these events deserve to have their success and hard work recognized. It looks like Wizards of the Coast are withdrawing their support from non-Magic Pro League and non-Mythic Championship events. Wizards of the Coast longtime photographer Craig Gibson even recently said that he's no longer needed for Magic events. Hopefully, the rest of the Grand Prix this year will get the coverage they deserve.
