Studio changes can be a cause for concern for anime fans, but with Chained Soldier season 2 switching studios at this point, many look forward to the new possibilities for the series.
This change could mean a fresh take on the animation and storytelling elements that align with the studioās style, so anime fans are surely watching closely as the surprising transition unfolds!
Chained Soldier Season 2 Gets a Studio Shake-Up and New Staff
Founded in 2002, Seven Arcs was the anime studio that adapted the first season of Chained Soldier, which aired 12 episodes during the winter 2024 season.
Now, the official website for the ecchi anime has confirmed the series' transition from Seven Arcs to a new studio, in addition to the new staff who will helm the series, effectively replacing director Goro Kuji (episode director for Beatless, The Fire Hunter) and character designer Hiroyuki Yoshii (Just Because!).
Chained Soldier will be animated by studio Passione, and the new director will be Masafumi Tamura (The Worldās Finest Assassin, Ange Vierge) with Keiya Nakano (Keijo, Loner Life in Another World) handling character designs.
With Passione at the helm, Chained Soldier season 2 is expected to offer a new look and feel that could bring exciting changes to the ecchi anime series.
Meet Studio Passione: The New Studio Behind Chained Soldier Season 2
Passione is a Japanese anime studio founded in 2011 by former Studio Fantasia production manager Kazuhiro Sato.
One of the studioās defining characteristics is its commitment to providing high-quality animation that combines modern visuals with compelling narratives, making it a fan favorite among other studios.
Some of the most notable anime that Passione produced include Ishura, Mieruko-chan, Citrus, Rail Wars, Harem in the Labyrinth of Another World, and Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf.
Passione is also set to produce upcoming anime titles such as Loner Life in Another World, Nukitashi the Animation, and the second season of Ishura.
Why Did Chained Soldier Switch Studios? Unpacking the Possible Reasons
While the official website confirms the studio change, the reason behind it is undisclosed, intriguing fans of the series.
There are a lot of possible reasons behind this switch, such as creative vision, perspective changes, financial considerations, production challenges, and even fan expectations.
But with the amount of criticism that the first season received, it looks like the switch-up is most likely due to the creative vision for the series.
Perhaps it was Passione who could bring a new artistic vision to the table, which might align better with the evolving narrative of Chained Soldier.
This could, in turn, rejuvenate the series and offer new story elements and dimensions to the story as well as the characters.
