CD Projekt Red on Why Cyberpunk 2077 isn't Launching with Multiplayer

Cyberpunk 2077 is going to be a grand single-player RPG coming out next year and most of us are looking forward to wasting hours just checking the game's many locations and features. We all would have been fine if this were a purely a single-player experience but it was recently revealed that there would be Cyberpunk 2077 multiplayer and it would be added as a free update down the line.

However, this got some fans wondering why the game can't just launch with multiplayer. The easy answer is that it would delay the highly-anticipated game and most of us were expecting a single-player RPG anyway.

Max Pears, the CD Projekt Red Level Designer, explained to Video Game Chronicles why the multiplayer mode will be launching separately later on.

Seems like the multiplayer is still a work in progress, which is fine since the campaign is what has most of us talking. This really looks like a step in the right direction for CD Projekt Red if they want to differentiate themselves from games like The Witcher.

Though I have mixed feelings about first-person shooters, this game genuinely looks fantastic and I can't wait to get my hands on it. Do I wish there were a third-person mode? Sure, but as far as games go, CD Projekt Red seemingly has a winner in their hands.

Cyberpunk 2077 is coming to PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia on April 16, 2020.
