Carrie Fisher’s Family Wouldn’t Mind if Leia was CGI in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker

Carrie Fisher might have passed away before she could film her scenes for Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, however, the film tried its best to give the Star Wars legend's Leia Organa the send-off she deserved.

Fisher's family has been vocal about how they've felt towards Lucasfilm's attempts at bringing Leia back to the big screen, and while everyone knows how supportive the family's been, it turns out that they would have even been willing for the studio to recreate Carrie's image through CGI just to complete Leia's story in The Rise of Skywalker.

Speaking in an interview with TMZ, Carrie Fisher's brother Todd decided to open up about the family's feelings towards The Rise of Skywalker and his sister's role in the film. Todd Fisher has always been open about his sister's legacy as a Star Wars princess and as a writer, and Carrie's brother seemed to have a whole lot of faith in Lucasfilm and in Episode IX director J.J. Abrams.

As it turns out, the family would have even supported having Leia recreated entirely through CGI the same way Lucasfilm did with Leia's brief appearance in the Star Wars spin-off movie, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

Todd Fisher believes that his sister wouldn't have minded being a CGI character in The Rise of Skywalker either. According to Carrie's brother, the most important thing is telling Leia's story fully, and while Lucasfilm refused to use CGI, the studio certainly tried its best to give General Organa some sort of closure.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
