While the anime may be ending its first season later this month, fans in Japan have something to look forward to as the Blue Lock stage play will be held soon. And ahead of its premiere, the Blue Lock stage play cast was revealed.
As the main characters of the series, Yoichi Isagi and Meguru Bachira were highlighted in the cast reveal.
The rest of the cast was also showcased, with each getting his own character visual.
Viral Anime Blue Lock Gets a Stage Play
Back when the anime premiered in October, it had a small but dedicated following. Though its popularity soon exploded thanks to the events of the 2022 World Cup.
In the latest World Cup, Japan was put in the same group as powerhouses such as Germany and Spain, but against all odds, the Japanese team was one of the teams to advance.
Given Blue Lockās story of Japan reacting to its 2018 World Cup loss, many fans drew comparisons between the animeās story and the actual World Cup events.
Thanks to these events, the animeās popularity skyrocketed. And now, an upcoming stage play adaptation is also coming soon.
The seriesā newfound popularity is thanks in large part to the World Cup. This is a likely reason the anime is getting a stage adaptation.
After all, other popular anime like Spy x Family and Lycoris Recoil also got stage versions.
For this next one though, itāll be interesting to see how theyāll adapt a huge game such as soccer into a small stage.

Blue Lock Stage Play Cast, Release Date
Weāll have to wait a bit longer to see what the Blue Lock stage play will actually look like, though we now have our first look at the showās main cast.
As with other stage adaptations, the actors that were cast in this play are professional theater actors that most anime fans might not be familiar with, though itās undeniable that they look the part.
The Blue Lock stage play will run at Sankei Hall Breeze in Osaka from May 4-7, 2023. It will then run from May 11-14, 2023, at the Tokyo Sunshine Theater.
Given its four-day schedule in each city, it might be difficult to secure tickets, even for those in Japan.
However, one of the performances might be recorded and released as a DVD, as was the case with the Lycoris Recoil play.
