If you're wondering whether there's a hidden connection between the unproduced MCU movie Blade and Ryan Coogler's vampire film, Sinners, you're in luck. Here's a surprising trivia about the two bloodsucking movies.

Did Sinners Really Get Marvel Studios' Blade Costume Hand-Downs?

Sinners and Ironheart producer Sev Ohanian recently made an appearance on ScreenCrush: The Podcast! to unveil the truth behind the shared similarities between Coogler's Bloodsucker with the MCU franchise's canceled Blade reboot.

"Ruth Carter was working on the Blade movie that ended up not shooting," Ohanian recalled about the acclaimed costume designer who worked for Marvel Studios and Sinners. "At one point, [Ruth] talked about this before, that film was going to deal with the past around the same era."

Ohanian continued to detail how they ended up with Marvel's hand-me-downs. As he said, "Marvel was generous enough and kind enough to let us basically purchase it at a price."

These costumes had not gone to waste, as Sinners got to use them for the background actors and other extras, saving the production hours that would have been spent crafting clothes from scratch.

Moviegoers had nothing but praise for Sinners, earning well over $364 million during its theatrical run. Sinners is one of the few original horror flicks that gained traction in theaters, thanks to its stellar A-list collective's performances and stunning cinematography.

Is Marvel Studios Still Pushing for a Blade Reboot?

Marvel's Blade is rumored to receive its highly anticipated reboot, with Mahershala Ali attached to the project since 2019.

The reboot would officially introduce the vampire hunter into the MCU, as teased in the post-credit scene in 2021's Eternals.

Unfortunately, due to the numerous projects that Marvel Studios had to prioritize, lore-wise and production-wise, Blade doesn't appear to be one of the billion-dollar franchise's top priorities.

Fret not, though. Consider this good news, as the MCU is attempting to rectify its previous cinematic failures by focusing on creating high-quality films, aiming to save fans from superhero fatigue and the studios themselves.

For starters, Wesley Snipes reprising his Blade role in Deadpool and Wolverine is nothing to sneeze at. With the MCU rebuilding the order, the vampire hunter could eventually find its way into the mainstream soon enough.

For now, fans can dig into the newest detail about seeing Blade's costume in Sinners, available to stream on HBO Max on July 5 at 8 PM ET.
