Besides the upcoming highly-anticipated film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, director Ryan Coogler and his team are also working on an untitled Wakanda series which will reportedly center around the origins of Danai Gurira's Okoye that was announced a while ago. However, until now, we have not heard any significant updates about the project. So what is its latest status?
In a recent interview with Collider, producer Nate Moore was asked about the current status of the untitled Wakanda series. Unfortunately, he revealed that there hasn't been any movement about it yet since they are currently focusing on the sequel and the Ironheart series.
"Because of the amount of time and attention that went into this film, and frankly the Ironheart show, that is probably not as far along as people want it to be, but there are certainly great ideas that we're still talking to Ryan about. So, we'll see how far we can get with it," he said.
Meanwhile, when asked about the latest status of Ironheart, the producer gave a more promising update as he revealed that production for the series is about to wrap filming shortly. "It's nearly complete. I think they might be on their second to last day, if I'm not mistaken," he revealed.
It is unfortunate to hear that movement has been slow on the development of the untitled Wakanda series since a lot of fans are curious to see how they're going to tackle the origins of Okoye, who has become a beloved character in the MCU, and it's an opportunity for them to see more of the character.
There has also been a rumor that Marvel is planning to do more special presentations in the future with this project being likely to be changed to that format instead. It still remains to be seen whether that is actually the case. For now, all we can do is wait for its progress which could hopefully happen soon.
