It has been six years since Suits ended with its ninth season, and many fans are still clamoring for the hit legal drama to continue.
Sure, the spinoff Suits: LA was released in May, but it was ultimately canceled after just one season—proving that nothing beats the original.
But while many are still hoping for its return, a comeback seems highly unlikely—thanks to Meghan Markle’s character, Rachel.
Will There Be A Suits Season 10?

It looks like Suits Season 10 will never happen after Markle left the show in 2017, following her engagement to Prince Harry.
Her character was written out of the show in Season 7, which was filmed in 2017 and aired from July 2017 to 2018.
But despite her departure, Rachel remained a major part of the story, thanks to her close relationship with the main character, Mike Ross (Patrick J. Adams).
That said, her exit—alongside her retirement from acting altogether—has major implications for the storyline, making a new season unlikely.
Rachel wasn’t the only one who left in Season 7—she brought her husband, Mike, with her.In the eighth and ninth seasons, Mike only made brief cameos, implying that the two were happily married while living in Seattle.
In fact, the show ended with the understanding that their marriage was going strong, hinting that there was no logical way for the story to continue.
How Can Suits Season 10 Continue?

If Suits Season 10 ever continues, USA Network would have to feature the return of the main characters—Harvey (Gabriel Macht), Donna (Sarah Rafferty), Mike, and Rachel—together.
There may be several ways the network could pull this off, but they would likely make little sense after the fulfilling Season 9 finale.
One possible way this could happen is if Rachel and Mike call it quits off-screen, though that might feel like a disservice to fans.
As major characters, viewers would want to see how they go through a divorce—especially considering they’re both lawyers.
So, it would be disappointing for fans not to see this process on-screen, particularly if the reason behind their separation isn’t revealed.
Sure, they had issues before, but they were nothing too serious that could logically result in a split.
Another option is to have Rachel die off-screen, but that’s arguably worse than a divorce—so there’s little chance Suits Season 10 could happen without her.
Instead of a new season, a movie might be a better solution, even without Markle. It could tell a story that doesn’t involve Rachel in any way and wouldn’t need to justify her absence.
With the original characters—except for Markle—and a fresh direction for the plot, this may be the only way the much-loved lawyers return to the screen together.
