Eternals and The Batman star Barry Keoghan has finally set the record straight on his last name's pronunciation.
For the past few years, he has become one of the rising actors in Hollywood thanks to his roles in the aforementioned comic book films and starring in acclaimed films such as Saltburn and The Banshees of Inisherin.
However, fans are still debating about the pronunciation of his last name and wondering whether they have been saying it right after all this time. Fortunately, the actor has finally clarified.
Barry Keoghan Confirms His Last Name's Pronunciation
In a recent interview, Keoghan confirmed the pronunciation of the last name once and for all to settle the years-long matter.
He revealed that his last name is pronounced as "Kee-o-gan" and added, "Some people get wrong, I mean, even Irish people get it wrong."
Keoghan also addressed his potential return as the Joker (aka "Unseen Arkham Prisoner" as credited in the first film) in the highly-anticipated sequel The Batman - Part II.
However, he didn't reveal whether he will be reprising the role as he played coy with his response.
"There we go! I can’t say much. The camera is looking right at me. We’ll see where that goes. Again, it was an incredible experience, and yeah, I can’t say." he said.
This should settle the debate for fans as they finally know from the actor himself how to pronounce his last name and avoid any confusion.
While Keoghan might make his return to Matt Reeves' The Batman universe, his potential return to the MCU as his Eternals character Druig is still unknown and it was confirmed recently that a sequel is not in development.
For now, let's wait and see what the respective comic book franchises have in store for Keoghan in the future.
