Avengers: Infinity War Almost Had A Trippy Doctor Strange Deleted Scene

There is little doubt that Doctor Strange did everything he could to stop Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. However, the film's writers have just revealed that Stephen Strange almost went as far as sending the Mad Titan on an LSD trip in the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick.

Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus recently made an appearance at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con where they shared some interesting details about Infinity War. For instance, they revealed that a deleted scene actually had Thanos going on a psychedelic mind trip courtesy of Doctor Strange (via Cinemablend).

According to the Avengers: Endgame writers, the deleted scene was fairly similar to the trip Stephen Strange had when he first met the Ancient One in Doctor Strange. However, Thanos was supposed to be judged by The Living Tribunal for all the crimes he has committed in his lifetime. It ends when the Mad Titan realizes it is a trick and continues the fight on Titan.

It certainly sounds like an epic acid trip but why remove it from the final cut of Infinity War? McFeely explained that it would put a break in the film's pace especially with all the action happening before and after the scene.

"To stop it to have an LSD trip was fun but sucked the air out of the punching," he said.

Fair enough, but we're hoping the whole thing was filmed and the deleted scene would eventually be released.

Marvel Studios is expected to have more exciting news when Kevin Feige takes Hall H at SDCC on Saturday.
