There is little doubt that any Marvel Cinematic Universe film will have its share of cameos. However, Avengers: Endgame took it up to an awesome new level. The movie had several surprise appearance from people you probably didn't think would show up yet here we are. One particular Easter Egg somehow tied the MCU to the comic books, and no, we're not talking about the late Stan Lee.
WARNING: The following contains spoilers. If you haven't watched Avengers: Endgame, turn back now!
In Endgame, Steve Rogers leads a support group for people who are having difficulty moving on after the Snap. Steve listens to their pains and even offers up some advice that he himself couldn't take.
The people gathered at Steve's support group are certainly not nobodies. The first person to speak up in none other than Endgame co-director Joe Russo. The director takes up much of the scene but we are in for another surprise. One of the attendees also happens to be comics legend Jim Starlin, the man who created Thanos in the first place. (He also revamped Captain Marvel for the comic books).
Starlin's appearance is limited to one short line. Nevertheless, the fact that he is in Endgame is an awesome nod to Thanos' comic book origins.
Oh, and in case you were skeptical about Starlin being in the film, the comic book icon shared a behind-the-scenes look at his Endgame scene. Make sure to scroll through the post to see all the pictures.
"My film debut. Had a great time with some terrific folks, like Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, the script writers. When I wasn't busy learning my one line or getting made up I had fun chatting with them. They and director Joe Russo were exceptionally open with me and for that I sincerely thank them, even though I had to keep my mouth shut for a year and a half afterwards. Glad I can now share these pix with you," Starlin wrote.
Of course, Starlin isn't the only comic book legend in the film. Stan Lee also showed up in a time travel sequence.
Avengers: Endgame is currently screening in theaters worldwide.
