Avatar: Fire & Ash is officially out in theaters, and with it comes the release of the highly anticipated Avengers: Doomsday trailer.
As earlier leaks revealed, Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) is back in the MCU and this time, he’s seen with a child. So what does this mean for the upcoming crossover film?
Here are the biggest reveals from the Doomsday trailer, explained.
The Return of Steve Rogers

If the Doomsday trailer hadn’t leaked earlier this week, the biggest shocker would undoubtedly have been the return of Steve Rogers after giving up his role as Captain America in Endgame.
The trailer opens with someone riding a motorcycle, followed by the reveal of Peggy Carter’s (Hayley Atwell) house, last seen in Endgame.
The man dismounts, hangs his helmet on the bike, and walks up the stairs. His reflection in the glass door then reveals him to be Steve.
Even before the leak, rumors had been circulating that Evans would reprise his role after fans noticed he had regained Captain America’s physique and that a 1950s-style house – matching the one seen in Endgame’s final scene – was being secretly constructed.
Now that his return is confirmed, it only makes Doomsday all the more exciting.
Steve Rogers’ Child

As the trailer continues, Steve retrieves his Captain America suit, stares at it, and places it inside a box.
The camera then pans around, revealing that he now has a child. As the scene shifts to Steve’s face, he smiles, appearing content with his family life.
That said, there are theories that Doomsday may explore Steve and Peggy’s life together, with Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) possibly taking issue with the family they’ve built, including their son.
Peggy Carter’s Absence

After the reveal of Steve’s child, the trailer confirms that “Steve Rogers will return in Avengers: Doomsday.”
This is followed by a countdown to the movie’s release date – exactly one year after the teaser’s debut.
However, despite claims that Peggy will be seen alongside Steve, she is nowhere near the returning hero in the trailer. By the looks of it, this may suggest one thing.
Reports indicate that Peggy may appear in Doomsday as a multiverse variant – similar to Captain Carter from What If…? – rather than the version last seen in Captain America: The First Avenger.
If this proves true, that version of Peggy is less likely to appear in the first teaser, which focuses primarily on Steve’s return, and may instead be featured in future trailers – especially since there are reportedly four trailers planned, each spotlighting different characters.
A Trailer Teasing Other Major Avengers: Doomsday Characters

Speaking of the planned four Doomsday trailers, the first teaser focusing on Steve may be Marvel’s way of setting the stage for other major characters set to appear in the film.
These could include Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Doctor Doom, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), and more.
The upcoming trailers may also spotlight returning characters portrayed by familiar actors, such as Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine, Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man, as well as other multiverse variants similar to Steve.
So before the fourth and final Doomsday trailer is unveiled, the three character-focused spotlights are shaping up to be must-see releases.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18, 2026.
