With a new line of Avengers waiting to return to the big screens on the next project, a recent report says fans can expect a whopping 60 MCU characters to appear in Avengers 5.
The Next Avengers Movie Might Pull An Endgame on Fans
It has already been five years since we last saw the Avengers team up on the big screen.
Don't get Marvel wrong — they're not done with uniting the superheroes in theaters, no. In fact, a recent report stated that the upcoming Avengers movie may bring back the old MCU characters together – a whopping 60 of them.
Marvel Studios is switching things up in terms of their yearly release plans for their roster of films and series, which may delay the excitement for Avengers 5.
However, the prospect of reuniting the original Avengers is still quite exciting to hear even after having new Marvel comic heroes debut on Disney+.
According to the report, the 60 MCU characters will include not just the core group of six Avengers from the first film, but also picks like Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange, Tom Hiddleston's Loki, Simu Liu's Xu Shang-Chi, and Karen Gillan's Nebula.
Considering that the main Avengers are already canonically dead in the MCU, Avengers 5 could welcome a new team-up to set the tone for the rest of the Marvel Phases.
As of writing, it remains to be seen what the plot and who the central villain will be in Avengers 5, especially after Jonathan Majors' exit from the MCU as Kang the Conqueror.
However, there is one other piece of indisputably good news attached to this future project.
Deadpool & Wolverine director Shawn Levy has recently been revealed as the top choice for helming the next Avengers movie.
According to sources, Levy has been given the latest script, although they have yet to confirm if he has already accepted the role.
It is possible that Levy's answer would depend on whether he has the space and time for it after directing Stranger Things and of course, the highly anticipated threequel, Deadpool & Wolverine, which premieres on 26 July.
