The concept of Aquaman riding fish in the original Super Friends cartoon was laughable, but James Wan aims to bring the grit up a notch with his upcoming Aquaman movie. Just in, he shares some images of Vulko (Willem Dafoe) and Orm (Patrick Wilson) on their underwater ‘horses'—and by horses I mean sharks,
Check them out:
With Vulko said to be an intellectual inventor type, I think it's only right that he would opt to ride a hammerhead shark (because tools, get it?). Orm also looks to be fiercer with his steed, as it looks like a mosasaurus straight out of Jurassic World.
The movie also has its own take on the Justice Friends version a sea dragon, and this is the only image we have so far:
It's described (via EW):
"The idea was to turn on its head the idea of Aquaman riding a seahorse, take something for which he was mocked and turn it into something terrifying and impressive… He's a Xebellian creature but I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Arthur (Jason Momoa) on one at some point…"
Though I am excited to explore the world of Atlantis, I think a lot of people are generally hyped up for the incoming war scene being teased in the trailers. I'm starting to have doubts that it's just part of a short flashback sequence, but I'm ready to hope that it's going to be part of an epic climax.
Bring in the giant crabs!
Aquaman hits theaters Dec. 21.
