Aquaman and Mera Find a Hologram of King Atlana in New Image

The DCEU had gone quiet after the disappointing reception of Justice League, and a lot of hopes are riding on James Wan's Aquaman to get everything back in gear. Thanks to Empire Magazine (via The Aquaman Shrine), we have a new image of Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) and Mera (Amber Heard) finding a hologram of King Atlan.

Check it out:

Interestingly enough, this isn't the first appearance of Atlan in a DCEU movie. He was supposed to appear in the Steppenwolf war sequence in Justice League. It's only too bad that his scenes were ultimately shortened to give the film its less than 2-hours runtime.

We don't know how far back Atlan is from the present-day bloodline of Atlantis, but hopefully everything will be explained in the film. After all, we still don't know if Atlanteans in this universe age like humans or are very much immortal like Wonder Woman and the Amazons.

A lot of hope is riding on Aquaman to be a success, and hopefully Momoa and Wan deliver a fantastic film. Lord knows the fans can't survive another Justice League-level fiasco.

Arthur Curry learns that he is the heir to the underwater kingdom of Atlantis, and must step forward to lead his people and be a hero to the world.

Aquaman is set for a release this coming Dec. 20.
