Star Wars might be a huge franchise but the films tend to cast lesser-known actors over big name ones, despite some of them being huge fans. It seems like Eternals and Maleficent actress Angelina Jolie is one of them since she's wondering why LucasFilm has yet to cast her in any role. The actress made her feelings known about this during an interview with MTV News.
Talking with them during D23, Jolie admitted to "cornering" Force Awakens and Rise of Skywalker director J.J. Abrams, acknowledging that he's very friendly but still in disbelief over not appearing in the franchise yet. As we mentioned earlier, LucasFilm would rather cast lesser-known actors and make them bigger via Star Wars, which is probably why Jolie hasn't appeared yet.
While it's too late for her to appear in the current trilogy, with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ending the current trilogy and anything classic Star Wars-related, but there are more movies coming out. D.B. Weiss and David Benioff are planning a trilogy after their work on Game of Thrones and The Last Jedi's Rian Johnson is also making three Star Wars movies that won't be connected to anything beforehand.
Jolie has proven herself as an actress but she's probably not going to get a big or recurring role in a future Star Wars film. You could argue that they hired Liam Neeson and Ewan McGregor before but they aren't exactly A-list talent. Hell, the former was killed off after only one movie.
Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will be coming out on December 20.
