FX has finally released the teaser for Alien: Earth, the highly anticipated TV series from the iconic Alien franchise.
Directed by acclaimed showrunner Noah Hawley, the upcoming series not only sends waves of excitement through fans but also brings the terrifying Xenomorph menace closer to home than ever before, unleashing chaos on Earth.
The Chilling Premise of Alien: Earth
The teaser opens with a harrowing scene of a mysterious spacecraft crash-landing on Earth, setting the stage for the terror to come.
Inside, a Xenomorph escapes its containment, prowling through the ship’s dark corridors. As emergency lights flicker red, an ominous automated voice announces, “Containment breach.”
The dangerous alien navigates exposed wires and encounters other extraterrestrial creatures before violently slamming into a window—hinting at the horrific events about to unfold.
What is Alien: Earth About?
Set two years before Ridley Scott’s original 1979 film Alien, Alien: Earth follows a young woman, played by Sydney Chandler, and a group of tactical soldiers as they investigate the wreckage of a downed ship.
Unbeknownst to them, their discovery will be nothing short of horrifying—predatory life forms that threaten humanity’s very existence.
Faced with this terrifying revelation, the group must fight for their lives, knowing that what they do next could change the course of Earth’s future forever
In an interview with Deadline, Hawley teased, “There’s something about seeing a Xenomorph in the wilds of Earth with your own eyes.”
“That is truly chilling to think of it moving here among us, and so I can’t tell you under what circumstances you’ll see that,” he continued. “But you’ll see it — and you’re going to lock your door that night.”
Who are the Cast of Alien: Earth?
Alien: Earth features an impressive ensemble cast led by Chandler. It also includes Alex Lawther as Soldier CJ and Samuel Blenkin as a CEO named Boy Cavalier.
In addition, Essie Davies joins the show as Dame Silvia, alongside Timothy Olyphant and Adarsh Gourav as Slightly.
Alien: Earth Blends 'Timeless Horror' of First Movie
As the first Alien set on Earth, according to Hawley, Alien: Earth will blend both the “timeless horror of the first Alien film with the non-stop action of the second [Aliens].”
Hence, it will be a “scary thrill ride” that will blow people’s minds and make them hang on their seats.
The director continued that the series will show how people were “trapped between the primordial past and the artificial intelligence of the future,” both trying to kill humans.
But if there’s one thing that Hawley can describe it, it’s “Edison versus Westinghouse versus Tesla.”
“Someone's going to monopolize electricity,” he said. “We just don't know which one it is.”
Moreover, producer John Landgraf hoped the new show would be faithful to the franchise while also being brave to reinvent the original.
“Setting it on Earth is really interesting,” he added. “We have to think forward about the future of the planet in terms of the environment, governance, and technology and create and design a version of the planet in the future.”
Alien: Earth is set to be released in 2025 on FX on Hulu in the United States and on Disney+ internationally.
