According to a new report, of every Lucasfilm project currently in development, Ahsoka season 2 takes up top priority. Despite the franchise's uncertain future, it would seem high hopes rely on the continuation of the beloved Jedi Master's story.
Lucasfilm Reportedly Prioritizing Ahsoka Season 2 Despite Franchise's Uncertain Future
With reports coming in that Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy may soon be ending her contract for Star Wars, fans remain unsure of what the franchise's future looks like outside of its live adaptation shows.
Considering that the cancellation of the most recent Star Wars series, The Acolyte, after merely 8 episodes already veered fans into disappointment, who knows how Lucasfilm plans on coaxing fans back into the franchise?
Well, an insider report details that Lucasfilm is prioritizing Ahsoka season 2 above anything else, despite having only wrapped up on Disney+ last year.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, "sources say the new season will go into production next year" which means fans of the Padawan will likely be seeing Rosario Dawson return in 2026.
Even though The Acolyte season 2 has been left afloat, it seems that they are currently gearing up for a different direction.
"Right now, my focus is clearly on [Ahsoka season 2] as well as the rest of the galaxy and how it's spinning," Chief Creative Officer Dave Filoni shared previously, adding that although he is also working on the Mandalorian and Grogu movie with Jon Favreau, he said that Lucasfilm is "putting one foot in front of the other" with more upcoming projects.
It remains to be seen whether putting Ahsoka season 2 in front of the other ongoing projects could pull Star Wars out of the swamp, but we'll simply have to stay tuned for more details on this story for now.
