A new rumor has suggested that Lucasfilm is looking to recast the role of Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka season 2.
Since the official announcement that the second season is in the works, fans have been wondering whether Baylan Skoll will return considering Ray Stevenson's untimely passing months before the series premiered.
The first season finale sets up the fan-favorite character's potential storyline in the second season, and now, it looks like the series is planning to continue his journey with a new actor.
Ahsoka Season 2 Reportedly Plans to Recast Baylan Skoll
A recent scoop from Daniel Richtman claimed that Lucasfilm has decided to recast the role of Baylan Skoll in Ahsoka season 2.
They are currently looking for an actor in his 50s/60s who will take over the role from Stevenson.
So far, Lucasfilm has not confirmed the claims that were made in the scoop.
If the reports end up being true, it is not surprising to hear that they will be recasting the role since it is clear that the series is still planning to continue Baylan's journey and explore more of his arc that was set up at the end of the first season.
In a past interview, Dave Filoni teased his plans for the character and suggested that he was considering bringing him back in the second season.
"Obviously, there’s a story there. We’re in a wait-and-see pattern at this point. But I’m glad the conversation is about Ray and how great he was," he said during that time.
"I used to have mini-debates with him and say, ‘Ray, you’re the villain here.’ And he’d be like, ‘I don’t think so.’ I was like, ‘I know you don’t think so, but you are. I love that you’re playing it like you’re not.’ Which is exactly the way Baylan thinks."
There are several talented veteran actors that they could consider for the role, and it is interesting to see who they'll end up casting. Hopefully, the new actor will do as great as Stevenson did.
