Now, the highly-anticipated season finale has finally aired and it wasn't necessarily a happy ending.

Ahsoka Season Finale Concludes with a Cliffhanger
Throughout the eighth episode of Ahsoka, we saw Ahsoka Tano, Sabine Wren, Ezra Bridger, and Huyang trying to prevent Grand Admiral Thrawn's plan to return to the main galaxy.
Following the multiple attempts by Thrawn to thwart their attempt to stop his departure, it was looking like Ahsoka, Sabine, and Ezra might be able to accomplish their plan.
After successfully fighting a pair of night troopers at the top of the base, Ezra was able to jump to the Chimaera thanks to Sabine's newly discovered Force skills.
As Sabine was about to join Ezra, she noticed that Ahsoka was still struggling in her fight against the zombie night troopers and Morgan Elsbeth so she decided to assist her while Ezra disguised as one of the night troopers in Chimaera and stayed inside for the trip back home.
Thankfully, Ahsoka's newly-fixed ship arrived on time in the midst of the battle and the duo escaped from the base and went on board to chase the Eye of Sion up to the sky.
Thrawn contacted Ahsoka's ship to brag about using Anakin's teachings for his victory and cited the lines, "Long live the Empire," before jumping into hyperspace. Ahsoka, Sabine, and Huyang weren't able to follow them as their ship was mildly damaged from the effects of the Eye of Sion's hyperspace.
The remaining trio flew back to Peridea and joined the Noti community again as they contemplated their fate of being stuck in that galaxy.
The Eye of Sion successfully arrived at the main galaxy where they approached the planet Dathomir while Ezra, still disguised as a night trooper, flew to the New Republic base and reunited with Hera Syndulla.
Despite being stuck in Peridea, Ahsoka and Sabine still felt that they succeeded in their mission as Ezra was able to go back home and the former suggested that they should move on.
The episode ended with the reveal of Force-ghost Anakin Skywalker looking proudly at his former padawan.
The season finale concluded with a massive cliffhanger as the heroes didn't succeed in their plan to stop Thrawn's plan and the Grand Admiral's inevitable return came to fruition which will definitely cause some chaos in the main galaxy.
This suggests that the series will likely get a second season to continue the stories that they left off in the season finale unless they'll address it instead on another series or the upcoming Dave Filoni-directed film in a few years.
The entire first season of Ahsoka is now available to stream on Disney+.
