Kathryn Hahn and Aubrey Plaza's combo is one of the most highly anticipated parts of the Agatha All Along series and for good reason! The premiere pretty much led fans to believe Agatha Harkness and Rio Vidal are ex-lovers.
SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for Agatha All Along episodes 1-2, so proceed with caution.
Agatha Harkness and Rio Vidal May Have Been Ex-Lovers All Along
Agatha All Along surprisingly didn't play around in teasing the appearance of Aubrey Plaza playing the role of Rio Vidal aka the Green Witch.
From the first episode, the WandaVision spinoff already established the existing tension between these two witches. They shared history and chemistry in just a few scenes on-screen together.
While the premiere has yet to explore their past relationship, Rio was responsible for looking after Agatha and helping her with the investigation behind Wanda Maximoff's death.
If it hadn't been for Rio in the morgue, Agatha may not have clawed her way out of the Scarlet Witch's spell altogether.
But one particular scene gagged fans into confirming they were ex-lovers: when Agatha claimed Rio had no heart and Rio didn't hesitate to say, "It's black and it beats for you."
Remember how the new Witches' Coven required a fourth witch, specifically a green one? Instead of asking Rio to join theirs, Agatha went along with Mrs. Hart (Debra Jo Rupp).
Though Rio did initially try to kill Agatha in her own home, it also implies that Agatha may have committed something far more treacherous than sin to her ex-lover.
It is worth mentioning that Rio Vidal has no comic book counterpart, unlike Agatha Harkness in the canon of Marvel Comics.
However, as part of the teasers for Agatha All Along, Rio was described to be Agatha's 'ex', which fans unmistakably spotted in the first two episodes.
Whatever led them to choose separate ways remains to be seen in the MCU series, but it will definitely haunt fans if it's bigger than losing the Darkhold to Wanda Maximoff.
