After numerous teaser trailers, HBO has released an "official trailer" for Watchmen. Why this is more official than the other trailers is a bit confusing but the Watchmen official trailer is a bit longer than the others, coming in at a somewhat lengthy two minutes and 30 seconds. We don't get much information, aside from the police being at war with the terrorist group that was inspired by Rorschach, called Seventh Kavalry.
It's pretty interesting, mostly focusing on Regina King's character, who is obviously the lead. We also get small bits of Jeremy Iron's Ozymandias, looking more sinister than ever and having way more fun here than he did in Batman v Superman or Justice League. Low blow aside, he looks like a creepy mastermind and could be behind the Seventh Kavalry, though that's just a theory.
Fans hoping to get more of Hooded Justice or Doctor Manhattan won't get that here but will probably see it once the series debuts. We do get to see Tim Blake Nelson's odd-looking hero Looking Glass, who is an interesting addition to the lore and should be fun to watch. Still, this pseudo-sequel to Watchmen has us worried but we're hoping this blows us away.
While I'm still a bit worried, this show could blow our socks off and I'm hoping that happens. Granted, I think Zack Snyder's Watchmen is actually pretty good but this series does have the potential to be better.
HBO's Watchmen comes out on October 20.
