One of the first things Abbott Elementary highlights is the mural with the two kids painted on the walls of the public school in Philly.

Despite it being a small detail that is rooted in the show's identity, fans couldn't help but dig into who these two kids are and what the mural could mean. Here's what star Quinta Brunson said about it.

Abbott Elementary's Mural with Two Kids Sparks Interest Among Fans

While Abbott Elementary has yet to unveil who the two kids featured on the mural wall are, it does emulate how important a school mural is to West Philly schools.

Abbott Elementary featured a mural arts program in season 2 episode 17, where Jacob takes the lead for his students. By the end of the episode, the mural art not only represents a space for the school but even for Jacob's students.

Fatima Smith is a Richmond, Virginia principal who initially sought to redo the walls of West Philly's Andrew Hamilton Elementary through Mural Arts. However, the school told her the scale of the mural was not feasible.

Abbott Elementary creator Quinta Brunson previously said that Mural Arts was one of her favorite things about the city and what inspired her for the Mural Arts episode.

Resonating with what Quinta hoped to bring with Abbott, Smith wanted the same thing for her students as well, "I wanted to create a sacred space and figure out what I can do to improve the aesthetic so that our kids have a better time interacting with the space."

Fans of the show, however, had a different impression about what the school's mural could mean.

Abbott Elementary Fans Came Up with the Wildest Theories

The initial Reddit post came from a fan who asked, "Who are these two kids," the faces of the children on the wall mural right at the entrance of Abbott Elementary. But right after that sentence came, "Are they dead?"

As morbidly funny other fans found the post, the posed question could have just as easily been a line from the anticipated It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover episode.

Jokes aside, others validated the point of the post by stating that murals can be sometimes related to people who have already passed. But then again, this would depend on what the show creators have to say.

Meanwhile, in a less morbid way, another fan theorized that the mural could have been painted a while back with the school simply voting who the two model kids should be plastered at the entrance.
