Episode 2 of Abbott Elementary season 4 titled "Ringworms" centered on Jacob discovering that one of his students has ringworm. As a result, he isolated himself and there was fear around the school that they might catch it.

Gregory made plans with Janine for that night. However, as a germaphobe, he bailed out due to his fear of getting the ringworm.

Understandably so, Janine was upset when Gregory canceled their plans as she was looking forward to their movie night. It caused a brief strain in their relationship.

Near the end of the episode, Gregory realizes his mistake and decides to apologize to Janine for overreacting. They eventually moved forward with their plans, but Gregory eventually got infected with ringworm as well.

Despite having their first fight, this proved Janine and Gregory's strong relationship as they showed that they can overcome their obstacles and Gregory is also willing to make sacrifices to make amends with his girlfriend.

This is a promising sign of their dynamic moving forward, and it is interesting to see what kind of challenges and situations they will face as a couple both personally and professionally.

Tyler James Williams on Abbott Elementary's Ringworm Storyline

In an interview, Tyler James Williams, who plays Gregory, weighed in on the "ringworm" storyline in the recent episode.

He explained that it was their way to showcase that side of Gregory and explore the behaviors of people in the post-COVID-19 pandemic era.

"It was not only fun, it was kind of cathartic. When we started the show in the midst of the pandemic, we made the creative choice not to address the pandemic," the actor said.

"But this episode kind of gave us an opportunity to really work through what happened during that time in a comedic way. So I was really excited to do it because we can look at it objectively and find the comedy in it."

Most viewers would agree as they also believed that the series successfully tackled it in a comedic way while also effectively exploring the characters and their growth.
