Mark Hamill recently revealed that he almost moved out of the US after Donald Trump's presidential election victory last year, but his wife convinced him to change his mind.

The Star Wars legend has been a prominent critic of Trump since his first term. He has been politically engaged on social media and called out several of the US President's policies and statements, as well as the trolls who have mocked him for his outspoken views. As it turns out, he almost followed in the footsteps of other celebrities who moved out of America after Trump won his second term.

In an interview with The Times of London, Hamill revealed that he considered moving to either London or Ireland after Trump won the US presidential election last year.

However, he canceled his plans after his wife made a remark that forced him to stay in the country.

"She’s very clever. She didn’t respond right away, but a week later she said, ‘I’m surprised you would allow him to force you out of your own country.’ That son of a b*tch, I thought. I’m not leaving," the Star Wars actor said.

Hamill went on to share his thoughts on Trump's second term as US President so far and the political issues that have arisen in the country since his return to office.

"The bullying, the incompetence, the people in place… The only way I can deal with it without going crazy and wanting to open my veins in a warm tub is to look at it like a thick, sprawling political novel. It’s entertaining in a way because this could actually be the end," he said.

"Our status in the world has been crippled, and that will reverberate for decades. Making Canada a 51st state? Do you know how offensive that is? And then taking over Greenland and renaming the Gulf of Mexico. The distractions are hilarious."

What Are Mark Hamill's New and Upcoming Projects?

Hamill recently starred in the Mike Flanagan film The Life of Chuck, which is based on a 2020 novella written by Stephen King. He has received acclaim for his performance.

He is starring in another upcoming Stephen King adaptation, The Long Walk, and is voicing The Flying Dutchman in the upcoming animated film The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants.

However, for his potential return in the Star Wars franchise, there are no plans yet for Hamill to reprise his role of Luke Skywalker.

"I don't want to make a big pronouncement like, 'This is my decision.' I'm just saying that it really felt like a conclusion," he said in an interview last June. "My character was given complete closure. I died, ironically, by overdosing on the force, I might point out."

Hamill also added, "Let me just say, they haven't asked me. It's not like they said, 'Please come back. ' Come on, how much can you do with a Force Ghost? I'd like to see a movie set all in the Force Ghost realm, I can have conversations with Alec Guinness."
