What Is Black Flash in Jujutsu Kaisen?
Before we explore the concept of 120% potential, we need to delve deeper into Black Flash as it is somewhat linked to 120% potential.
Black Flash is like a distortion in space that arises when cursed energy is employed within a mere 0.000001-second window following a physical impact.
Once a sorcerer accomplishes this feat, their cursed energy emanates a black flash, amplifying the destructive force of their strike to the power of 2.5 compared to a regular hit.
To summon Black Flash, one needs to have intense focus. It is not possible to wield at one’s discretion.
This phenomenon doesn’t happen randomly, rather, it necessitates exceptional skill and combat prowess.
However, Kento Nanami is one character who is not mighty impressed by Black Flash.
Nanami, who once held the record for the highest number of consecutive uses of Black Flash, believes that using it successively is not particularly remarkable.
Black Flash users include Yuta Okkotsu, Nanami, Itadori, Mahito, Nobara Kugisaki, Satoru Gojo, and Todo.
What's the Meaning of 120 Percent Potential in JJK?
In the Shibuya Incident arc, after Mahito goes on a rampage and takes out Nanami and Kugisaki, he is ready to kill Itadori.
However, Todo’s timely intervention results in Itadori continuing his battle against Mahito.
Todo utilizes his switching technique to throw off Mahito and this allows Itadori to center his focus and resume the fight.
Itadori and Todo attack Mahito simultaneously. Mahito prioritizes dealing with Todo’s switching ability.
He uses his transformed arm to defend against Todo and throws a transfigured human at Itadori.
Todo surprises Mahito by swapping places with the transfigured human, catching Mahito off guard.
Mahito is impressed by Todo’s ability to sense cursed energy before full activation.
Meanwhile, Todo fears his friendship with Itadori will dissolve if he doesn’t progress. Seeing Mahito master Black Flash, Todo refuses to fall behind.
Stepping up, he times a perfect kick infused with cursed energy, breaking Mahito’s arm.
Despite no impact on Mahito’s soul, the cursed spirit acknowledges that all three are pushing their latent potential at 120%.
All three fighters are now extremely powerful because they are operating at such unimaginably high levels.
