Zoe Saldaña recently revealed that she collapsed right after winning the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress earlier this year.

The actress scored her first-ever Oscar victory for her performance in Emilia Perez. Her win didn't come as a surprise since she was the heavy favorite to win the trophy in the days leading up to the ceremony.

During an interview on Live with Kelly & Mark (via Entertainment Weekly), Saldaña reflected on the moments she won the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Emilia Perez.

She made history during the night as the first Dominican American actress to win an Oscar.

"It was all beginning to become a blur, it was such a beautiful journey leading up to the Oscars. I don’t think I was there as myself [that day], my 13-year-old self was there," she said.

When co-host Mark Consuelos brought up that he noticed during the night that she was sick, Saldaña admitted that she had collapsed after her victory.

"I collapsed right after. I lost my voice within an hour after I won the award. I couldn’t stand on those heels that I had. All I wanted to do was crawl in bed and maybe cry. I don’t know why, I needed to cry," she said.

"Your body is running on pure adrenaline, so you know that your immune system is in optimal condition, but once you know you tell your body that it’s over, then everything sort of collapses."

How Did Zoe Saldaña's Family React to Her Oscar Win?

Saldaña also opened up about her family's reaction when they watched her take home the Oscar. She notably dedicated her win to her family during her acceptance speech.

She shared that her kids were happy for her victory and "saw my win was sort of like a soccer tournament."

"My youngest did ask me, because he’s a little more competitive than the other ones, ‘But this was for supporting actress, right?’" the actress added.

The year 2025 is expected to be busier for Saldaña as she is starring in the upcoming Pixar film Elio and the highly anticipated Avatar: Fire and Ash.
