An islander from Love Island USA has committed a violation so severe that it got her removed from the show.
The popular reality TV series wasted no time in cutting ties with the contestant after her scandalous digital footprint surfaced.
Why Did Contender Yulissa Escobar Get Removed from Love Island USA?
Yulissa Escobar from Love Island USA Season 7 was recently dumped from the island, not because she was voted out by her fellow contestants, but because of what she did before joining the show.
Following the announcement that she’s an Islander in the new season, fans unearthed old videos of her repeatedly using racist slurs.
TMZ reported that clips of Escobar casually saying the N-word on two different podcasts quickly spread. Viewers began calling her out and vowed to get her removed from the show.
Like most reality TV series, Love Island USA has zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior and language, and the show immediately decided to let Escobar go.
"Yulissa has left the villa." Just 18 minutes into the second episode, narrator Iain Stirling announced her departure without further explanation.
People reached out to Peacock for more context, but the network did not provide any additional details aside from repeating what Stirling had already said in the episode.
Aside from Escobar, another contestant, Austin Shephard, is also under fire for his past activity. Some viewers were upset to learn that he allegedly liked TikTok posts supporting Donald Trump, as one user on X claimed.
What Will Fans Be Looking Forward to in Season 7 of Love Island?
Ten new singles from Florida, five guys and five girls, were recently introduced to pair up and win challenges in hopes of becoming Love Island’s ultimate couple.
Vanderpump Rules star Ariana Madix returned to the show as the host. Although the season premiere on June 3 made fans wait with a 40-minute delay, the 39-year-old reality TV star still gave them a treat by making the first few minutes with the contestants exciting.
Madix gave them a steamy challenge: to approach and "lock lips" with the person they were instantly attracted to.
The contenders who have already paired up since day one are Chelley Bissainthe and Austin Shephard, Huda Mustafa and Jeremiah Brown, Belle-A Walker and Nicolas Vansteenberghe, Olandria Carthen and Taylor Williams, and Yulissa Escobar and Ace Greene.
Escobar and Shephard’s previous online activities have not won the audience’s favor so far, which led to Escobar being the first to go in episode 2.
Given how exciting and drama-filled the first few episodes have been, fans are already tuning in eagerly to see which couple they'll be rooting for, or which ones they believe don't deserve to stay in the villa.
Love Island USA episodes will drop daily from Tuesday to Thursday, with Wednesday being the only exception. However, since this is premiere week, episode 2 aired on Wednesday, June 5.
