The season 1 finale of X-Men '97 ended on a massive cliffhanger for our favorite heroes as they found themselves trapped in two different timelines and the reveal of Apolcaypse and Mother Askani as major figures in season 2.
Rogue, Nightcrawler, Beast, Charles Xavier, and Magneto are trapped in Ancient Egypt in 3000 B.C. and encounter a young En Sabah Nur (aka Apocalypse).
Meanwhile, Cyclops and Jean Grey find themselves in a desolated future set in 3960 A.D. and meet a young Nathan, Mother Askani, and the Clan Askani.
Let's explore what we could expect in season 2 based on the Mother Askani reveal.

Who is Mother Askani aka Rachel Summers?
As long-time X-Men fans know, Askani is also known as Rachel Summers, Jean and Scott's daughter from an alternate reality of a Sentinel-controlled "Days of Future Past." She is also the leader of Clan Askani.
Per Marvel.com, in the comics, she became the key part of the fight against Apocalypse as she is also recognized as the rebellion leader in a future conquered by the villain.
She formed the Clan Askani and developed a philosophy built around tenets like "what is, is" and "thanks for today, please for tomorrow."
The Askani also believed in "embracing fate and maintaining the Sacred Timeline through the careful use of time travel to ensure certain events occur, while preventing other events from altering history."
What Does the Mother Askani Reveal Mean for Season 2?
It was suggested that Bishop brought Nathan to Askani in the future where she became his mentor and guided him to become the savior (aka Cable) that would go back in time and defeat Apocalypse.
However, now that Jean and Scott are in the future, they are also going to be involved in raising young Nathan.
In other words, parts of season 2 are going to be a Summers family adventure and there will be a lot of exploration of their dynamic and the awkwardness of the parents' presence in the future timeline.
There are a lot of possibilities that could happen with the Summers' storyline in the Apocalypse-ruled future timeline, but one thing's for sure fans will be able to get a full glimpse of Jean and Scott as parents.
