X-Men '97 executive producer Brad Winderbaum recently gave an exciting tease on the other teams that are coming in season 2.
Production is currently underway for the highly-anticipated second season of the hit Marvel Animation series. The scripts are also reportedly being rewritten following the firing of former showrunner Beau DeMayo earlier this year.
Fans have been looking forward to hearing what Marvel has in store for the upcoming season and whether it will expand more of the X-Men mythology that the original series and the first season have established.
X-Men '97 Producer Reveals More X-Teams in Season 2
In a recent panel interview following a special screening of the series, Winderbaum teased what they have in store for season 2 of X-Men '97.
He shared that the upcoming series will feature more X-teams from the comics and join the X-Men in action.
"There’s many teams, in Marvel, that have the letter “X” that are followed by a hyphen. I would put it to you like this… there’s two other X teams in Season 2," the executive producer and Marvel Animation head said.
Winderbaum was likely teasing the arrival of X-Force and X-Factor in the second season. As most fans know, both teams have a prominent presence in the X-Men comics and they ended up getting their own run as well.
Considering that both the original series and the first season have explored or teased the existence of X-Force and X-Factor and its members, it's not surprising that they will have major involvement in the upcoming second season.
While it is unknown yet how prominent will they be, it is an exciting tease for fans who have been looking forward to seeing the teams become major parts of the series and interact with the X-Men.
It is curious to see what else they have in store for the second season and whether we will be seeing other beloved Marvel characters become major parts as well.
