Since Wonder Woman 1984 will be coming out in a few months, it only makes sense to have her face the movie's villain in the comics. It can be seen as corporate pandering by many but that will get the attention of casual viewers, as will the fact that a new creative team will be on board. Starting with June's Wonder Woman #759, Mariko Tamaki will be writing the series and acclaimed Batman artist Mikel Janin will be providing interior art.

Tamaki is a pretty acclaimed writer, with her recent DC graphic novel Harley Quinn: Breaking Glass getting plenty of attention, alongside her novel Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me. While DC Comics hasn't revealed a lot of details about her upcoming Wonder Woman run, the writer has expressed some excitement working for the title and Janin's art should get anyone's attention.

Despite the lack of details for Tamaki and Janin's run, knowing that Wonder Woman will be facing Maxwell Lord should be enough to entice fans. The two have had dramatic fights in the past, particularly when she snapped his neck so that he would stop controlling other heroes, and we can't wait to see what these two creatives have up their sleeves.
