- Quick Answer: CBS officially renewed Tracker for Season 4, which relocates production to Los Angeles and promises to deeply explore the mystery surrounding Colter Shaw's father.
Tracker Season 3 may have come to an end, but fan-favorite lone-wolf survivalist Colter Shaw (Justin Hartley) will be back for a fourth season.
The show received an early renewal just before the third season ended. So, what can fans expect from Colter’s return when Tracker Season 4 finally arrives? Read on to find out.
What is Tracker Season 4 About?

If Season 3 was already explosive enough, Tracker Season 4 could become the series’ most ambitious installment yet, as it will finally reveal what really happened to Colter’s father, according to lead star Justin Hartley himself.
“We have spent the first three years unpacking this story about what happened to Colter’s father, who was involved, who wasn’t involved, and that’s changed throughout the course of the show,” he told TheWrap. “First being that Colter thought his brother was involved because his mother told him as much. Come to find out, that’s not necessarily the case. So all of that kind of comes to a head, and we get some answers to all that stuff at the end of Season 3.”
Hartley continued by saying that it took a long time for these storylines to develop, but now is finally the right time to make the big revelation and answer lingering questions.
“We’ll come back with something; we already have it, it’s pretty incredible,” Hartley teased. “Honestly, I think it’s our most ambitious season to date, but I think it’s also our richest one in terms of character, backstory, and where we’re taking Colter.”
Where Will Tracker Season 4 Be Filmed?

While Colter’s story is set to continue in Tracker Season 4, there will be one major change that fans are about to witness.
After the first three seasons were filmed in Vancouver, the new season will instead be shot in Los Angeles due to a major tax break that earned the show a whopping $48 million.
“I’m proud of what we built in Vancouver. I’m also very excited we’re bringing Tracker to LA,” Hartley told Deadline. “I’m looking forward to continuing to tell these stories alongside the new, fresh places we’ll be heading to next.”
Fans don’t have to worry, though, as the location change will not affect the CBS series at all.
“In terms of tone and character, I don’t think it’ll impact the show at all. Our show is a road show,” Hartley explained. “Our character goes from town to town across the United States of America and meets people from all different walks of life and helps them out. These strangers become kind of his family in a way.”
The This Is Us star added that the show “has to evolve,” promising that it would be “something different” this time around.
“So we’re excited about it. It’s going to be very good for the show and for the audience,” he concluded.
