Chainsaw Man was hyped as early as many months before the anime adaptation was announced. But can fans expect more content from the anime? Will there be a Chainsaw Man Season 2? And if so, when will it come out?

Is Chainsaw Man Season 2 Confirmed?
Chainsaw Man is so popular that it can be considered a pop culture phenomenon in the anime world. While its renewal is supported by Summer 2023 leaks, the show's next season is facing unexpected delays.
The anime has generated a wealth of memes, fanfiction, cosplays, and merch, so Chainsaw Man Season 2 is pretty much guaranteed in some form.
Some fans have even been disappointed at the number of Chainsaw Man episodes in Season 1.
Many had hoped that the studio MAPPA anime would cover the entire Public Safety arc of the Chainsaw Man manga. But with only 12 episodes, the Chainsaw Man anime covered about half of that.
Already, we've seen many Chainsaw Man moments we couldn't wait to see animated, but the latter half of the Public Safety arc is where things get really wild.
The Chainsaw Man anime is arguably a high-quality production, with a different ending song per episode.
Therefore, taking it slow and starting with a modest first season seems to have paid off, at least for many viewers. But this isn't the last we expect to see of the show.
Given the warm reception Chainsaw Man has received so far, it's clear that there would be an audience eagerly awaiting the rest of the story.
So, what happened to Chainsaw Man? The horror anime's reception in Japan was a bit less enthusiastic as many fans perceived the anime to be inferior to Tatsuki Fujimoto's original manga.
The requests for a reboot in Japan have led some fans to worry that Chainsaw Man could be canceled.
There's no indication so far that this is happening, but not getting an update over a year after the anime premiered feels increasingly disappointing.
These days, many beloved shows get renewed sooner rather than later. The more time passes with no Chainsaw Man Season 2 updates, the more worrying the situation seems.
After all, not every canceled series gets an actual cancelation announcement, with some simply fading away.
Of course, Chainsaw Man is a hit title, so we wouldn't expect such an unceremonious end to the anime. We would like to hope that MAPPA still has plans for it.
Even the recently concluded Attack on Titan took 10 years to adapt, after all.

Chainsaw Man Season 2 Release Date Predictions
As of writing, the exact release date of Chainsaw Man Season 2 hasn't been confirmed yet, but we wouldn't be surprised if news about it came out soon.
That being said, the MAPPA Stage 2023 event frustrated fans as it involved little to no new information about the series.
The event included appearances by Chainsaw Man voice actors Kikunosuke Toya (Denji), Fairouz Ai (Power), and Shogo Sakata (Aki Hayakawa).
However, there was no announcement about Season 2's release date, nor any trailer, as fans had hoped.
As such, we wouldn't expect any new Chainsaw Man content before late 2024 at the very earliest.
Will There Be a Chainsaw Man Anime Movie?
It has finally been confirmed that a Chainsaw Man movie is coming out prior to any potential season 2.
MAPPA has released a trailer for the Reze arc movie, also known as the Bomb Girl arc.
The finale of Season 1 concluded with a characteristic quote by Reze, one of the main characters in the arc that directly follows the Katana Man arc, which the anime finished adapting.
The fact that the studio had already chosen a voice actor, Reina Ueda, for Reze suggested the possibility of a Bomb Girl arc adaptation very early on.
Since the Bomb Girl arc where Reze appears is quite short, a movie is enough to keep fans interested until a second season begins its production.
When Might We Get Updates About Chainsaw Man Season 2?
For many popular anime titles, new content such as OVAs, Specials, or second seasons are announced immediately after a season finale. Unfortunately, this wasn't the case with Chainsaw Man.
Depending on the production and the studio's other commitments, a second season can take one to two years to make.
For instance, Jujutsu Kaisen got a second season two years after its original run, though it also got a movie in between.
Fans were hoping that major news about Season 2 (or at least a Reze movie) would come out at the Chainsaw Man Festival.
As this didn't happen, other, future anime events are our next best bet, although an update could be revealed at any time, even with no special event behind it.
Which Studio Will Produce Chainsaw Man Season 2?
We couldn't imagine anyone but MAPPA producing Season 2 of Chainsaw Man.
At this point, the anime studio is established as home to all members of the dark trio of shounen anime.
Despite the less warm reception domestically, MAPPA is considered to have done a good job adapting the anime so far, and their first season actually teases Reze's appearance, too.
As such, it would only make sense for MAPPA to keep animating Chainsaw Man. We also expect Chainsaw Man's cast to remain mostly the same.
In recent years, MAPPA has been accused of having poor working conditions and rushing production.
Perhaps this further explains the lack of announcements about Chainsaw Man Season 2, as the present situation is not viable for yet another huge anime to be produced.
It makes sense for other current shows like Jujutsu Kaisen to wrap up first before the studio can focus on Chainsaw Man once again.

What Will Chainsaw Man Season 2 Be About?
The Chainsaw Man manga is quite far ahead. If Season 2 happens, we'd expect it to cover the latter half of the Public Safety arc right after the Bomb Girl (Reze) arc which will be adapted into a movie.
Following a true horror adventure in hell known as the International Assassins arc, the research for the Gun Devil becomes more fervent, with devastating results.
Without spoiling much, we can say that Season 2 would involve one of the creepiest arcs yet, with a Devil so frightening even the characters themselves are traumatized.
Makima's plans will fully unfold, and the family that Denji, Aki, and Power have bloomed into isn't ready for it.
As Makima's search for the Gun Devil intensifies, Season 2 will be full of shocking realizations, unhinged fight scenes, and tragedy.
Chainsaw Man Season 2 News and Updates
So far, there has been no news about Chainsaw Man Season 2, but the movie announcement confirms that the franchise isn't dead.
Despite some domestic backlash, Chainsaw Man is hopefully going strong and a Season 2 seems more likely than ever.
We'll update this space as soon as new updates or announcements come to light.
